Circuit breaker – data acquisition, communication and visualisation
Acquisition of energy data becomes more and more important with regard to achieving potential savings and transparency of costs. Implementation of an energy management system according to DIN EN ISO 50001 may take place in various development stages. To this end, Eaton provides solutions for acquisition, recording and logging of energy and machine data in an easy-to-use and clear manner. This makes it possible to analyse and optimise the energy consumption of individual machines or sections so that a company can benefit from monetary savings potentials at all levels from planning, through installation, to operation.

More energy efficiency due to ISO 50001
NZM Circuit Breaker with SWD 150 For the implementation of energy management systems on company or corporation level, the international standard EN ISO 50001 has been defined. The major goals of this standard are to sustainably decrease energy costs, energy consumption and CO2 emissions by implementation of organisational and technical measures.
Partner for energy efficiency
Both in large groups with worldwide interconnections and for small or medium-sized companies, with the suitable energy management concept it is not only possible to protect resources and improve one΄s image but also to achieve transparency of costs and savings. In particular for businesses with high energy consumption, with rates of more than 10 GWh or energy costs of more than 14% of their economic value added, reduction of energy-related taxes and duties as specified in the Renewable Energy Act will result in tremendous cost-saving potential.
Measurement and analysis form the basis
The prerequisite for the introduction of an energy management system according to ISO 50001 is the measurement of all energy-related data of a company, the identification of the major energy-consuming sections and machinery, and the analysis of energy costs. Taking these measures as a basis, concrete action for more energy efficiency can be deduced. With their large portfolio of innovative products, Eaton provides the foundation for monitoring, measurement and analysis of your energy data.
Visualisation and logging system
Eaton΄s BreakerVisu is a cost-effective solution for modern energy management. By means of a Multi-Breaker-Display the system provides a central overview of all operating data of the connected circuit breakers and data acquisition instruments. By centralised display on a 3.5” or 7” touch screen HMI, availability of vital operating data is increased. In addition to that, cost savings already accrue due to the installation of this centralised system in comparison with a conventional control system with separate displays for each individual switch or circuit breaker. BreakerVisu is available as a complete solution that is instantly ready for operation, without any further effort.
Overview of functions:
Recording of data from several devices (up to32 via Modbus RTU + 16 via SmartWire-DT)
Visualisation of these data on site or by remote access
Logging of data (data-, energy-, eventlogging)
Connection to the management system via Modbus TCP and to the CoDeSys OPC Server is possible
Integration option for external devices
New version as complete device (hardware and software)
Plug & Work principle
Optional display size
BreakerVisu is available as a complete solution, including Ethernet connection (RJ45) and with two optional display sizes (7 and 3.5 inch). The scope of delivery includes an SD card for saving the log files. The 7 inch display provides an option for simultaneous application of Modbus RTU and SmartWire-DT with galvanic isolation of the RS485 interface. The 3.5 inch display is available either as SmartWire-DT or as Modbus RTU version with a maximum of 8 devices.
BreakerVisu is available in many languages
The standard BreakerVisu language is English. The scope of delivery also includes German and French language options. The language can be set upon initial start-up of the BreakerVisu or at any time through the Start page. In addition to the first three languages, additional language packages can be downloaded and installed, for example: English-Russian-Polish. In its capacity as basic language, English is contained in all language packages. Currently 18 different languages are available in total for BreakerVisu. Upon requirement, it is possible to generate further language-packages.
Universal access to all functions
The local Multi-Breaker display is supplemented by the remote access option via Ethernet TCP/IP. Access via web browser provides the full scope of function, equal to the touch screen. Moreover, it is also possible to integrate BreakerVisu in a superordinate system. In this environment, BreakerVisu provides all data from all devices connected in its property as Modbus TCP slave. Thus, it is possible to centrally access these data from the Modbus TCP master.
100 % BreakerVisu integration
A new feature of BreakerVisu is the implementation of external devices. In this scenario, the units referred to as external devices do not have to be third-party devices but can also be devices that have not (yet) been identified by BreakerVisu. The only requirement the device must comply with is to be a Modbus-RTU-compatible unit. With the help of a structured XML file provided by Eaton, the data image of the external device is adjusted to that of BreakerVisu. Then, this file is imported into BreakerVisu. In this way, BreakerVisu will ”get to know” up to four different new devices.
Due to these two new functions, i.e. the integration of external devices and the gateway functionality, BreakerVisu now also represents a competent solution for specific customer applications. These two functions can be activated by means of licence points. Licence points may be obtained by means of licence product certificates from Eaton΄s XV HMI/PLCs.
